A town of opportunity...

People say "home is where the heart lies", but why can’t work be where the heart lies too? We spend more time at work than at home, so maybe we should look to a place that supplies great business prospects and a friendly, blooming environment. I believe Sevenoaks IS that perfect place.

The main town is an absolute delight with its small, quirky cafes and restaurant chains. All manner of cuisine can be found within a tight radius of the town centre; English, French, Italian, Japanese, Turkish and Spanish tapas are all here. There are traditional English pubs for that Friday evening drink after work, and retailers include high end fashion, toy shops and supermarkets. If you need to pop out at lunch to buy a last-minute birthday present, no problem! Sevenoaks has got you covered. Local beauty therapists, including those for nails and massage, are also right there on your doorstep.

Traditionally known as a commuter town, Sevenoaks has got superb connections. Whether it's a 10-minute train to local towns like Tonbridge, Hildenborough or Oxted, or a visit to London - the latter being only a 30 minute journey. Being situated just off the M25 means a drive to other towns is a doddle; hopping straight onto the motorway with minimal hassle.

Businesses around Sevenoaks range from the small to the very large. There are family-run accountants that have thrived in the area for years, as well as corporate giants who have identified the town as a fantastic opportunity. Organisations are many and varied, with factories and warehouses on the local industrial estates, through to Insurance, Accounts, Solicitors and Construction Consultants, to name but a few; there's a vibrant business community out there.

Schools in the area are widely acknowledged to be fantastic. The boarding school in the centre has applicants from all over the world and boasts magnificent grounds. The facilities too are on a par with those of a much bigger town, with two recently renovated leisure centres, a swimming pool and a number of successful sports teams based out of it. Knole Park - which is a National Trust property in the middle of a town - gives the unique sensation of being in a country park, whilst being close to your place of work. If you need to get away from it all, there's no better place to do it.

Finally, the thing that really makes Sevenoaks a fantastic place to work, are its PEOPLE. There is a certain understanding and appreciation between its residents and the people who arrive for business. Customer service within local organisations is exceptional; workers have a certain air to them, young or old - it's certainly one of the friendliest towns I've ever lived. Community spirit is high, with events like the annual firework display feeling almost like a family reunion!

To summarise, this town in the south-east of England appears to have a little something for everyone. Happiness is - to me - the most important thing in life, and work is a big part of life...so why not enjoy it?
